In addition to providing POS LINKER, Blue Ridge POS, LLC offers custom data conversion, custom POS LINKER invoice design, custom accounting reports (through Crystal Reports), network design and complete consulting for all computer operations.

Crystal Reports is a powerful report generator that can accept data collected by POS LINKER and turn that data into meaningful information to help customize your business reporting functions.  This product is an optional software item and works seamlessly with both POS LINKER and Peachtree Accounting software.

Networking: Networking allows all the computers in the customer’s business to take advantage of high performance system servers while maintaining the ability for each person who needs personal computing to do their own work locally. As technology improves, adding to or replacing the system server is more cost effective than trying to replace every computer in the network. With computer performance continuing to improve along with more stable operating systems, the performance that can be achieved by purchasing new system servers is better amortized and more easily justified. By incorporating system and file sharing over the network, not every computer needs to have a printer. Faster networks and access to the Internet provide the customer with better information and data to help improve decision making, thereby optimizing expenses and increasing profit margins.

Training: Without proper training, the best software and programs in the world will not provide the benefit customers need in order to improve their business. Training has always been one of the areas upon which Blue Ridge POS, LLC has focused and excelled. Each system is delivered with a level of training that is appropriate to an individual customer’s needs to maximize their performance. Training is discussed from the very beginning phases of negotiations and continues through to completion. Only that amount of training necessary to make the user comfortable is provided. Additional training is available at any time.

During the initial period following installation, Blue Ridge POS, LLC maintains close contact in order to insure the customer is comfortable with the system. In each location, at least one employee is generally designated as the “Systems Administrator” and is given extra attention. Our goal is to become a “partner” with our customers for all their computing needs.

With follow up software maintenance, depending upon the level of need, customers have access either through the Internet, via e-mail, or directly by phone for ongoing support. The Customer Support section provides additional information on our service policy.

Software performance and function is dependent upon stable and reliable hardware. In configuring systems for our customers, we offer a combination of hardware systems from custom built servers to off-the-shelf PC’s from well recognized manufacturers. With years of experience in the business computer industry, Blue Ridge POS, LLC has learned which manufacturers provide the most reliable components with the best prices.

Blue Ridge POS, LLC prefers to custom build the system servers. Peripheral components and internal optional equipment are often different for business requirements than the average home user. In the outdoor power industry, larger storage space and high performance disks are needed. With the need for larger disks, there is also a need for a reliable method to back up critical data files and daily business information. To accomplish this, we have developed a Windows server platform that provides for RAID 0/1 protection built into the server. This system consists of multiple disks that are “mirrored”. Data is written simultaneously to a minimum of two hard drives in what is known as “hot swappable” technology. Should either of the disks fail, a warning is given and the Systems Administrator can remove the failed drive and replace it with a spare. This is done simply by turning a key and pulling the hard drive out of its mounting system in the front of the computer. As soon as the new drive is inserted, the RAID system begins the process of “mirroring” the new drive with the data from the still functioning good drive. Up until recently, this type of hardware protection was very expensive. Now, it is affordable for all businesses.

In order to protect against catastrophic data loss from fire or other disasters, we provide CD-RW and DVD-RW drives to allow customers to back up their data on a daily basis and remove the data and critical files to an offsite location. The latest backup storage systems are the new USB 2.0 high speed external drives. Some models are small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. They offer the fastest backup outside a direct connection to an internal drive. All of our new servers (and some workstations) have USB connections on the front of the computer. For customers with high speed Internet access we will also offer data-vault service in the near future. This will allow the customer to back up all their critical data files over the Internet (securely), to our protected location. Data will be immediately available for reconstruction as well as having additional back up files at this location on different mediums.

For standard desktop workstations and counter systems, we offer custom built Windows based systems. Custom built workstations can have the same high performance power found in the system servers. However, by taking advantage of the power of the system server (Usually having a 3.0 GHz CPU or higher, with single or multiple processors), less powerful local workstations can all have the same performance. Site licensing is less expensive than purchasing individual copies of business software. Configuration of individual workstations across the LAN can speed up deployment and reduce the time it takes to install and maintain individual packages.

Hardware Systems & Requirements: For parts and cashier checkout counters we offer Thin Clients , which offer high performance at a lower per station cost. These units do not have any internal disk drives installed and the operating system is imbedded in the Read Only Memory (ROM). These stations are used primarily for processing sales and/or service invoice tickets. All applications are run on the server, with no local storage. Printers can be connected, and with the new Windows 2003 server, sound and high resolution video can be brought to the local desktop. With no moving parts, these units are very reliable.

Leasing Options: Through one of our leasing partners, our customers have the option of financing their purchases. There are three basic leasing options.

Fair Market Value Lease

Includes option to purchase equipment at lease-end for its then “fair market value”.

10% Purchase Lease Option

Includes option to purchase equipment at lease-end for 10% of the original purchase price.

$1 Buyout Lease

Includes option to purchase equipment at lease-end for $1.

Benefits

By leasing your system, there is no immediate, large capital outlay. Monthly lease payments are tax deductible. In addition, it is easy to budget your system payments. When additional equipment is needed, it can be added to the existing lease.
